And now for something rather special! The Mystic Legend combines all the years of wetsuit and materials development that the brand has been involved in and puts it all into one, rather impressive, package! Designed to be the warmest wetsuit on the market the Legend is packed with features to keep the cold at bay!
Made with 100% M-Flex 2.0 neoprene the suit also features a Quick Dry lining on the chest, back and lower body. This material is designed not to retain water and enables you to put a dry suit on every time. The inside of the suit features waterproof taping on every seam, and the suit is glued and blindstitched to improve flexibility.
The Legend is only available in a front zip design, although there is a 5/3 version for those of you blessed with slightly warmer climates! There are Aquaflush panels in the legs as well as non-slip cuffs and 4-Way Stretch knee pads. Lastly, the suit has been treated with Polygiene odour control technology so that it won’t smell like a teenagers socks after prom night if you leave it on a bucket for too long!
In the Water
The Legend is a thick suit; you should only be looking at this if you ride in the coldest of conditions. We say that as because it is so thick and warm there are a couple of disadvantages that won’t be an issue if you ride in freezing conditions, but may be something to consider if you usually wear less neoprene!
It’s a bit of a wrestling match to put on, be sure to try it on and get the perfect size in the shop as we struggled a bit with the medium when we are normally fine in medium suits from Mystic. Once you are in though and all zipped up you will also find it isn’t as flexible as some of the other suits in the Mystic range. The thick neoprene coupled with the exceedingly furry quick dry lining are at play here.
However, if you regularly ride in conditions that mean you need a suit of this magnitude, you are in for a treat. The Legend is, without a doubt, one of the warmest wetsuits we have ever ridden in; there really is no substitute. It’s flexible enough not to hold you back while you are on the water while providing extreme levels of heat to keep you out there for as long as possible.
The other ace up the Legend's sleeve is the Quick Dry lining. OK, so after a night on the hanger the suit is still a touch damp around the ankles but compared to the water retention levels of a standard wetsuit the Legend is off the charts. It’s impressive technology that we can’t wait to see this trickle down to other suits. The Legend comes at a price though and that should be mentioned, it’s not cheap, but then if you kite a lot in cold conditions you’ll know you can’t put a value on warmth!
Overall
The best of the best as far as keeping the heat in goes, with a Quick Dry lining that makes back to back sessions a joy. If you kite in the cold and need something that will keep you warm no matter the conditions the Legend is it!
