At A Glance
Manera have hit the market running with their long anticipated line-up of wetsuits. Rather than pick an off the shelf design they have utilised some pioneering software which is a first in the industry. The 3D CAD software scans the body and then they can design the suit around the shape they want. The software then cleverly flattens the 3D shapes into a 2D format that the laser cutter can cut from a sheet of neoprene.
Manera are using top quality products in terms of the materials, and the Meteor Magma features their red hot Magma lining, this fleecy fabric is designed for maximum warmth. All the seams are taped with a flexible SD2 Tape, which ensures comfort on the inside of the suit. This tape also allows full flex along all the seams too.
The neoprene itself is a new material called N-Foam which is the warmest most flexible material currently available. Other neat features include leg drainage, a shortened chest zip entry to ensure maximum flex and sealing prints on the ankles and cuffs of the suit.
On The Water
Pulling the Meteor Magma on you can feel the quality in the materials instantly, the suit is flexible and plush. Wetsuit fit is always a personal thing, and we would always recommend getting the best fitting suit rather than an ill-fitting suit with loads of bells and whistles. Personally, I found the Manera suit to be a perfect fit for my body shape. The flexible neoprene really helps here though, as you can get away with a slightly smaller suit for a more snug fit.
In the water, the suit is great at blocking out the elements, both the wind and the water. The fleece lining keeps you ridiculously warm, and the fantastic sealing at the neck, cuffs and ankles keeps flushing to a minimum. We’ve found a lot of summer based suits suffer from water ingress, which isn’t such a problem when it is hot, but that isn’t the case here. This is a great suit for the spring and autumn, we were wearing ours in late October last year and didn’t feel the cold, which was pretty amazing!
Overall
A high-quality suit that comes at a price, with kiter specific features though, a great fit and some impressive materials we feel the Manera Meteor 3/2mm justifies the outlay. You’ll be warm and toasty while feeling exceedingly flexible and free no matter what the spring and autumn has to throw at you!
