At A Glance
Recently, I got the chance to test out ION's hybrid shell construction mid-range 2023 Nova Harness—a harness specifically for women, with a shape and construction tailored to the female body.
As soon as I unboxed the harness, I was immediately blown away by its sleek and streamlined design. All black, accented by a pop of coral and with a cute palm tree icon. For those that prefer a bit more colour, the Nova is available in 3 different colourways, pink-gradient, light-olive, and the black model, which I tested. And the best part? When I tried it on, I barely noticed it was on; it's that comfortable!
One of the main features of the Nova Harness is its use of a 3D zone shape. This innovative design helps to distribute pressure evenly across the harness and reduces any potential hot spots or discomfort during your session on the water.
The PVC Buckle made it extremely easy to adjust, and once adjusted to your body, you won't need to spend time faffing around with it. The only part I slightly struggled with was tucking the stiff inserts that get tucked into the harness, but once that was in, the harness felt super snug; perhaps that is by design, and the stiff pieces provide extra support and prevent too much twisting, which was two very positive characteristics we noticed about the harness.

On The Water
Once on the water, I can't emphasise enough how tiny this harness feels thanks to the Flex_Belt that kept it securely snug around my waist the entire time. I never had to worry about it riding up, even in strong winds. It also features exchangeable Ergo_Pads inside, which prevent lower back injuries, reduce pain, and increase comfort. Both pads are included and are easy to swap out to fit your preference using Velcro.
One of the main things I appreciated about the Nova was the non-water absorbent HD_Foam, as the last thing you want to do after a session is lug around a heavy water-soaked harness! This makes it particularly appealing for travel, especially if you want to sneak in one last session on your departure day!
The Spectre Bar has a kite hook included and was super quick to put on. After adjusting it to your size, no further tinkering should be necessary. The harness felt moulded to my waist and tailored to fit!
Overall
This harness is packed with innovative design and features, and as someone who recently switched to an ION harness, I am very impressed. It's designed with the female body in mind, so you can comfortably shred all day! Ladies, the ION 2023 Nova Harness is a game-changer.
