At A Glance
The Prime from North Kiteboarding sits in their line up as their go-to, easy to use freeride board. A simple approach with this board means it does exactly what you need when you need. Coming in an array of sizes to ensure there will certainly be an option to suit almost every rider out there.
North have used sustainable Paulownia wood in the core of all their boards which not only provides a solid board underfoot, also ensure lightweight with a dynamic flex pattern. ABS rails are key to a long-lasting performing board, and the smoothed edges protect you from and knock you may encounter during those early stages.
The Prime has a classic twin tip shape with swept in tips, a single concave on the base, and a flat midsection for that all-important early planing ability. Coming equipped with 40 or 50mm fins depending on the board size, all hardware is high-quality stainless M6, and the ergonomic grab handle completes the package.
Sizes: 133x39, 136x40, 138x41, 141x42, 144x43, 148x44, 152x45cm
On The Water
The North Prime is an easy planing, easy cruising type of board. Your feet immediately feel locked in with the Flex binding system, and there is good grip from the 40mm fins underneath the deck.
Through chop, there is minimal spray thrown up, and the board cuts well through the water with only a small bounce to be felt. A good upwinder, the Prime allows you to concentrate on your body position and power delivery whilst it cruises upwind with ease.
Thanks to the narrow tips of the Prime, you can perform big carving turns and hold down some good power without losing that edge. A moderate flex pattern keeps things comfortable here and allows you to dig deep on the load and landing of jumps and pops.
There is no need to be riding ultra-fast with the Prime which is really beneficial for learning those new skills; be it toeside carves or first raleys; the Prime allows for performance at whatever speed you are riding.
Overall
A great all-rounder from North which will get you out practising in a range of conditions. Simplicity is the beauty of this board, and for those who need to focus on getting cruising and learning some classic kiteboarding moves, the North Prime is a great option.
