At A Glance

The Shox Custom is the popular freeride board in the CrazyFly line up. This year it sees a makeover and some design changes, but it is still aimed firmly at the rider looking for the ultimate freestyle weapon. This year the Shox Custom features a full wood core, ABS rails and 3D moulding. The bottom has a deep double concave that carries all the way through to the tips of the board and the flex is medium with a softer flex in the tips. 5cm CrazyFly Raptor fins adorn the underside and they are incredibly thin. The pads are shaped with an aggressive step to keep your toes in place and the straps are easy to adjust.

On The Water

We always enjoy riding the CrazyFly boards, they never fail to deliver in terms of performance and the Shox Custom is no different. The double concave base really eats through the chop and the medium flex and soft flex tips make for a comfortable ride. The board is fast, helped by those low profile fins and when you really want to send it skyward the rails bite like a rabid dog. The soft tips then make landings a breeze with the double concave tips adding to the control on impact. The ABS rails are shaped to ensure you can carve the board smoothly, and rail-to-rail is a dream, the flex and rails combining to offer more grip than a Formula 1 car on a hot day. Upwind is excellent too and we really couldn’t find an area where the board didn’t excel.

Overall

Underneath the orange and brown colour scheme lies a beast of a board ready to pack a punch. It’s smooth through the chop and able to deliver the goods on demand. One to consider if you like your freeride fast and exciting.
