Ever wondered what it would be like launching a foilkite in 40+ knots? Well, the man himself, Jaime Overbeek, is here to show us how it’s done!
Many followers asked me for a video on launching a foilkite in very strong winds. I got lucky a friend got it on camera. Here we are launching the Ozone R1 V4 7.0 in over 40 knots. Winds would later pick up to 55 knots. Here you get an idea of how hard and dangerous it can be if you’re not prepared and experienced to handle this type of kite in these conditions. It’s a three-man job, one stabilising the kite on the ground, the rider and one holding the rider until the kite is fully inflated and even after that until the rider is safely on his board in the water.
