The power of wind brings us all together, but we rarely look past how it affects our kite sessions – or lack of kite sessions! We caught up with Lewis Crathern in Issue 94 of IKSURFMAG to talk wind, climate, and the future. If you haven’t checked out the interview, give it a read, and watch this video to see behind the scenes of Lewis’ trip with the Global Wind Energy Council!

“Kitesurfer Lewis Crathern is passionate about climate change and what the energy transition looks like for people all over experiencing it. His work as a Wind Ambassador for the Global Wind Energy Council sees him delivering his school talks to students all over the world, and on this trip he spoke to students near the Red Sea about the transition happening around them. Lewis also got to visit the brand new West Bakr wind farm and Egypt’s long-standing Zafarana wind farm. Lewis said: “It was great to see Egypt’s commitment to wind energy, meet with key people, speak to school children and of course use my passion for kitesurfing to link it all together. Wind power is a key tool on Egypt’s journey to producing 20% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2022.”
