Bimini looks like the paradise we all need right now! I think we’d even risk a session with the sharks to kite on this island paradise in the Bahamas. Check out Blake Olsen’s latest vlog to see his session in sharky waters.
“I had a free weekend on my e-foil demo tour while they were in transit and decided to head over to the island of Bimini to meet up with a filmmaker friend Tyson Saddler. He was there with some friends to swim with sharks at one of the most renowned shark diving centers in the world. Neil Watson’s dive center attracts shark enthusiasts from all parts of the globe. Jay, a local kitesurfer and head mechanic of the center told me that he has filmed shark week over a dozen times there and taken some of the most famous people in the world out swimming with the sharks. Did you know that more people die from swallowing hot dogs a year than shark attacks?
Here they have shark wranglers that feed the sharks who are very accustomed to human interaction and they put a lot of effort into shark conservation. So my idea of a relaxing weekend was to take a break from the demo tour and swim with these magnificent creatures. The first day I arrived was too windy for anyone on the island to go out for a dive but made for an awesome surprise session. I think I was the happiest guy in Bimini that day and really enjoyed riding with the sharks.
Made some really cool friends while on the island and really enjoyed the experience. Big thank you to Matt Grondin and Tyson Saddler for helping me get some shots. Definitely give them a follow on Instagram and keep up with their amazing adventures.
Now I’m on Harbour Island about to head out for a kite session on Pink Sand Beach!
Cheers,
Blake”
