The Spornado Hood Jam Day One: Prep Day
Sun 23rd Jul, 2017 @ 9:00 pm
The 2017 Spornado Hood Jam is officially underway. Riders, judges, spectators and the media team were greeted with hot air and a steady breeze on day one of the competition window. The action kicked off on Friday night, with registration. Light wind on Saturday morning provided time to give some love to the Slider Project park. Riders and Jibstruction pitched in to repair sliders and add fresh decals. The Saturday afternoon jam session gave the riders an opportunity to show off for the media team. Read the full recap, provided by the Kite Park League, below, and stay tuned for more updates throughout the week.
Light wind and hot temperatures welcomed riders to the Slider Project park in Hood River, Oregon for the start of the 2017 Spornado Hood Jam. The Spornado Hood Jam will run from July 22nd through 28th, 2017.
On Friday night, the riders gathered together at the opening ceremony to celebrate the Kite Park League’s return to the Gorge. Thirty-three total riders — 24 men and 9 women — have registered to compete in the third stop of the 2017 KPL tour. Full Sail Brewery sponsored the party. Friends and competitors were reunited and plans were made to finish the park in time for the event.
Saturday morning started early, with sliders being pulled out of the water for repair and refinished with new decals. A huge thanks to the riders and Jibstruction for getting the features dialed-in.
An afternoon bump in the wind speed gave riders the opportunity to session the park with the entire media team at full attention. Riders like Ewan Jaspan and Noe Font were holding nothing back from the beginning. They gave a sneak peek of what is to come, throwing banger after banger throughout the jam session.
Sunday’s forecast is predicting a full day of wind, perfect for running the first heats of the competition. There will be an 11:00 a.m. with heats starting shortly after, if conditions permit.
