Master Of The Ocean 2014
It is a fact that Cabarete is the Mecca for water sports and the lifesyle it represents; Master of the Ocean celebrates this title by bringing back 6-days of competition and music to the North Shore of this beautiful Caribbean island. The event starts on Feb. 22nd and wraps up on February 27th, which is the Dominican Independence Day. This is what inspires Master of the Ocean to name this celebration: IndepenDance. IndepenDance is a music celebration during all five nights at Ojo, Voy Voy and LAX clubs, peaking with the closing party at VoyVoy on Feb. 27th.
Master of the Ocean is proud to have the support of the Dominican Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Tourism; we also have confirmed sponsorship from Delta Airlines, Dasani, Powerade, Orgullo de Mi Tierra| CCN, Dakine, Encargo Paq and Millennium Hotel Cabarete.
In terms of the athletes: Marcos Díaz and Susi Mai are two of MOTO’s main sports celebrity ambassadors, and we just received confirmation of Michael Gebhardt, who is the US Sailing Team RSX Olympic Windsurfing Coach and also coaches athletes from other countries who are working on competing in the 2016 RIO Summer Olympics.
Next to him, we welcome Francisco Porcella, Italian waterman raised in Maui, with a known preference to big waves, and the young
Hawaiian overall stars Fiona Wylde and Zane Schweitzer the 17 year old watermen from Kahana, Maui HAWAII.
We expect the participation of Teams from Puerto Rico, Germany and Italy, among other national and international teams.
Marcus Bohm, founder of Master of the Ocean and a waterman himself, whose passion for windsurf brought him for the first time to the DR 23 years ago says “it is a great honour to be part of a new global movement that reflects the world’s best water women and watermen in a perfect playground that is the North Shore of the Dominican Republic. Cabarete and Encuentro beaches offer a rare and wonderful combination of consistent trade winds and warm waters. This unique event will identify the athlete which best masters the ocean through surf, wind surf, kite surf and stand up paddle boarding while riding tropical waves: the one who masters the ocean riding and
jumping waves will be the Master of the Ocean 2014.”
