Will Taggart kindly wrote us the excellent article in the latest issue about getting into snow kiting, this video features the great work the guys did at the Bighorn Snowkite Summit which was held recently in Jackson Hole. Some great riding as well as some solid concepts coming out of the event…

This video is a collaboration of snowkite contributors from all over the country. Representatives of all types of snowkiting were present at the Summit. The main frustration we face in the industry is a lack of cohesion amongst each other. An association is needed, formal structure for competitions is needed. After we brainstormed as a community we decided to employ this 1 to 6 grading concept and see if we can push it as a community as a step forward working together. In many other sports such as rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, mountaineering… the community creates a grade of difficulty so individuals can improve progressively against the scale since direct competition isn’t suited. That way, becoming fluent in the use of a grading system allows you to attempt more challenges more progressively to ultimately become better. It also is a gateway for beginners since it’s easy to know you should seek out class 1 conditions when you start.

The event was held on December 2 – 8th 2013 and the footage is from the event itself. Enjoyed most on a big screen with good sound. Feel free to email bighornsnowkitesummit@gmail.com to join the collaboration. Follow us on the Jackson Hole Kiters Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jackson-Hole-Kiters/335683062156
