Invited by extreme sports photographer Ian Edmonson, Patrick Rebstock and friends jump at the chance to kite surf on one of Scotland’s most remote islands. Edmonson a Uk photographer, who runs EXPIX.uk, used to to the wet rainy weather braves his camera to explore North and South Uist and shoot the kitesurfers.
The island is the perfect place to kite getting huge surf and wind from every direction practically year round. Funded by the local wind power company the crew arrive on the island by ferry to a warm welcome by all of its local peoples. The trip was a combination of exploration of unridden waves, extreme weather and teaching the local kids about kite surfing.
Patrick Rebstock and James Ropner did an event with all the kids from the local school, showing them how to kitesurf right in the backyard of their school.
Plans were made with the PE teacher to get him set up kiting and ready to teach so he could continue to help the students that wanted to try kitesurfing.
It was a really special event to get to share our sport with these kids, i hope we made a positive impression and judging by the mile wide smiles i would say it was a huge success.
