40 knots welcomed the riders yesterday morning for the start of the double elimination at the PKRA Fuerteventura.  The race director decided to start with the women because the forecast was calling for more wind in the afternoon.  The women were already on 5 to 6 kites and the men on 5 to 7 meters.  Alexander Neto had the highest scoring heat of the day (33.86) and the highest scoring move; a switch S-mobe(7.4).  Patrick Blanc, Reno Romeu, Christophe Tack and Aaron Hadlow also landed some of the big tricks in the challenging conditions of Fuerteventura.1-6

In the first round of women’s heats, the girls had to adapt to the conditions and modify their repertoire of tricks due to the high winds.  In the first heat Menardo defeated Brochocka, the second heat Bonzon defeated Castro and in the third heat Jungo landed a nice S-bend to advance over Pakhomchik.  The last heat did not have to be run because Winkowska decided to rest her knee and Switala advanced.

2-6

The first round of men started with Patrick Blanc and Evandro Da Silva, Patrick rode extremely well landing a big S-mobe and 315 to get a win.  The next heat Rondina and Shitzhofer had a very close heat; Rondina was cleaner in his execution of tricks and advanced.  Up next Madson was in control over Rodwald, with some super powerful moves while Mario could not seem to get his rhythm.  Next Reno easily advanced over Suriel who was only able to land two tricks.  Alexander Neto impressed the judges and spectators making his every move look easy.  He finished the heat with an awesome switch s-mobe, unfortunaly he also injured himself and struggled in the next round.  Langeree and Hutter took care of Business in the last two heats with the wind picking up even more.

Corniel VS Neto Replay

4-5

In round two Blanc stayed super powerful and defeated the technical Rondina.  Madson was solid while Umpierre could not seem to land his big tricks to stay in the game.  The 3rd heat Neto broke his board and Reno capitalized on it to advance to the next round.  Hutter took out his five meter against Langeree and was able to get some of his stylish tricks in.

Once you reach the third round of the double elimination you are guaranteed a top 10 finish and prize money.  One winner will get a chance to challenge the top four from the single elimination.  The first heat was between Blanc and Hadlow.  This was probably the best heat of the day with both riders really going for it in contrasting styles.  Hadlow is extremely technical, while Patrick goes big.  After 7 minutes Hadlow won by one point 30.83 to 29.83.  The next heat Spiessberger tangled his 5th line around the kite on his second trick and never recovered giving Madson an easy win.  Romeu and Borisov was an exciting heat; Borisov was really powered on his 7 meter kite and struggled with his landings, while Reno was more conservative and advanced.  The last heat of the day Tack defeated Hutter by putting more power and cleaner landings on all his tricks.
