Meet Manuela Jungo – Our New PKRA Tour Correspondent!
We’ve been feeling the need to give the world class athletes on the tour a little more coverage and get behind our gladiators this season as they battle it out for the World Title at the many PKRA Events this year. Rather than bring you the same press releases as everyone else we have teamed up with Swiss Kite Babe Manuela Jungo to bring you behind the scenes scoops and updates on each day of the competition!
“Today was the first Day of the PKRA World Tour in Dakhla, Morocco.
The Day started with the registration and the first skippers meeting where we got informed about the new rules; The best 5 moves count in each heat and 12 attempts are allowed, same rules apply for women and men. Also new is the number of categories that you can do tricks from, this has been raised to 22 categories, but unlike last year where you could do 2 tricks per category this year you can only do one. As an example a kiteloop would be one category of trick. The idea is to encourage the riders to go for different styles of trick and make the heats as interesting as possible to watch!
After all this news and lunch we were waiting for wind to kick in until around 5 pm, when the men were finally able to start the the trails and got to heat 10 and the girls took the chance to get used to the conditions.
Skippers meeting at 10 am tomorrow.
Heat winners today: #1: Borisov, #2: Da Silva, #3: Onieva, #4: Teixeira, #5: Sholte, #6: Marvyle #7: Madson, #8: Blanc, #9: Jaspan, #10: Hutter
Heats will continue as soon as the wind allows, the forecast is looking OK for tomorrow and Thursday in the afternoons and should be nuking by Friday and Saturday!”
