Airush have just dropped their new range of 2017 Team Series and Diamond collection along with a rather awesome new website to showcase it all. We’ve had a good look through and it certainly seems like the guys and girls have been busy, both on and off the water! There are 4 new kites in this release, including the new 2017 Wave, Diamond, Razor and DNA designs, as well as new surfboards and twin tips. The website itself is a massive improvement with a clean and stylish design and a wealth of information that is sure to excite even the most sombre of Airush fans!

Kites

There are tweaks all round across the range, rather than anything outlandishly different, Airush work with their team of pro riders to perfect this lineup and so each year it is a natural progression of improvement from the last years design. Four kites feature in this launch, the Diamond, Wave, Razor and DNA!

2017 Diamond

The Diamond Kite features a refined profile and balanced configuration that appeals to a broad range of users – from performance freestylers to wave riders – while still being stable and user friendly enough for intermediate riders.

The unique shape is light on the bar with a short bar throw, so that even the lightest of riders can easily get the kite to the edge of the window in stronger conditions. For 2017 the updated V3.2 bridle configuration features reduced bridle length without compromising on turning and depower.

The Diamond Series kite features Technoforce D2 by Teijin in conjunction with the Dyneema load frame, giving any female rider an insanely durable kite that will last them several seasons.

2017 Reefer Wave

The unique design of the Airush Wave has been engineered specifically for the precise demands of the true wave enthusiast. The Wave flies forward in the window when required (keeping the rider deep in the pocket), steers immediately no matter where it is in the window, and sits back and drifts in the turns when more stability is required.

Refinements in the chord length, wingtips and canopy layout make for a smooth power delivery and fluid steering which is consistent across the range. For 2017, the updated V3.2 bridle configuration features has reduced bridle length without compromising on turning and depower.

The next generation Dyneema Load Frame takes the biggest innovation in kite construction to a whole new level. This, combined with the Technoforce D2 by Teijin, provides the ultimate mix of durability and lightweight performance. For wave performance, this optimized weight is essential for improved drift stability, while the load frame make all the difference when additional durability is required.

The Wave responds perfectly to rider input and allows you to get into the perfect position on the wave no matter what the wind conditions, taking your riding into a new realm…

2017 Razor

The Airush Razor keeps the dedicated C-Kite feel and performance that wakestyle and freestyle riders demand. Working closely with World Champion Alex Pastor we relentlessly focused on fine-tuning the performance characteristics, specifically: mind blowing pop, unhooked ability and kite looping. The Razor has great range, along with comfort for everyday freestyle riders.

For 2017 the 5th line is set with slightly more tension for added structural rigidity and responsiveness. A new 6m replaces the 5.5m creating a more stable platform with better gust response, and makes the 6m as easy to handle in high wind as the 5.5m. An improvement in parked power for better bottom end results in a much more versatile kite, with a broader wind range.

2017 DNA

The focus of the DNA is to make the best kite possible for riders entering into kiteboarding. The DNA boasts a super easy set up and is extremely predictable with instant relaunch. Featuring all the safety systems found across the entire Airush range, this kite is essential for the first time rider.

The DNA takes the platform of the award winning Lithium to guarantee that it has the ability to grow with your progression from the very beginning to the end. Whether you are getting in to freeride, jumping or wave riding: you can do it all with the DNA.

2017 Team Foil and Team Foil Board

Julien Kerneur has been a passionate foil racer right from the very inception of the sport and it is fitting that Airush have released a foil and board developed with the talented man in mind. The new Team Foil and Team Foil Board are aimed at the rider looking for a race ready setup. However it has also been designed to be incredibly user-friendly and easy to ride, so this board is perfect for crossings and long distance as well as the rider looking for an adventurous freeride board with a good turn of speed!

The Carbon Foil is built from high modulus prepreg carbon fiber which offers the best weight to strength ratio. The Foil design has been designed to reduce drag as much as possible. The unique Airush modular design enable the rider to upgrade key components between Prepreg Carbon Team Foil and the Core Foil (Available August 2016), reducing overall cost of ownership and allowing you to step up components as you feel the need.

Mast:

  • Length: 960mm (Tuttle Box Not Included in Measurement)
  • Chord: 120mm
  • Thickness: 13mm
  • Material: High Modulus Carbon HR 40/Titanium
  • Approximate Weight: 1.7 kg

Fuselage

  • Total length of Fuselage :730mm
  • Back fuselage:
  • Length: 415mm
  • Approximate Weight: 0.4KG
  • Material: Full HR Carbon/Titanium

The Airush Team Foil was developed in conjunction with Julien Kerneur to offer the ultimate in race winning performance while still being incredibly easy to use for long distance crossing and for the passionate freerider.

We designed this board to have the least possible drag through reducing the width, thereby increasing the comfort when sailing in choppy seas and swell, especially when going upwind.

The Tuttle Box Insert is connected to an internal Load Plate that avoids the larger external plate of traditional foils, this means even if you stop planing through a transition, the base insert will not drag and slow the board down. The Team Foil comes with dual Tuttle options for the rider wanting to switch between a more performance style of riding and a freeride style of riding.

In terms of construction, all key components are made using Ultra High Modulus (UHM) Carbon fiber in precision aluminum compression mold, with CNC machined stainless steel mechanical assembly components. A full fused connection between the mast and front fuselage means that the front wing, which deals with the majority of the load, has the least flex possible. A titanium stiffening bar through the front of the fuselage allows for the front wing force to be directed away from the carbon area and directly onto the stiffening bar.

2017 Surfboards

There are 5 boards in the lineup this year, the Diamond Surf, a classic squash tail thruster for girls, the Converse, a traditionally shaped thruster for solid waves and hard carving, the Compact, a modern wide shaped hull design with a squash tail to deliver power when the waves are sub par, the Cypher, which is Airush’s take on the no nose short modern planing hull shape and lastly the Slayer, a short wide design for making the most of those days when the wind doesn’t show up, or the waves lack any real punch!

There are lots more products on the site, including new bindings, bars and harnesses, there is just too much to include it all in this preview! In fact there so much information on the new site it is quite hard to take it all in! We are loving the new layout, clean design and excellent menu system.

Good work team, get down to your local dealer to check out the new gear, or just visit the amazing new website!
