Just when you thought the Christmas and New Years excitement would soon be over, from 18th – 26th January 2020, the world’s largest water sports fair will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany! Displaying the latest from the worlds of surfing, kiteboarding, SUP, wakeboarding and sailing, a new record has been set with over 1,970 exhibitors from 74 countries presenting at the 2020 show.
There will be pros you can get tips from (Airton Cozzolino, GKA Kitesurf World Champion will be attending), all the latest technical gear to check out, and bargains to be had in the dealers corner. With the 4th Wave Masters and SUP Wave Masters taking place at the event, along with stars from Hawaii, Cape Verde and Nazaré; you don’t want to miss this!

With a huge variety of watersports on show, everything from fishing hooks to super yachts, and a heavy focus on all aspects of surfing, there is something for everyone. A number of brands will also have the latest wing foiling gear on display, so you can find out first-hand what this latest craze is all about.
In Hall 8a (which is where the event is held) there are plenty of opportunities to get on the water and test out the equipment. If you want to take it easy, grab a SUP board and go for a paddle in the flat water pool or take part in a SUP yoga course. For a little more excitement you can try out a wakeboard in the pool, or watch the professional displays and learn some new tricks. For those wanting something more challenging and strenuous – and also much wetter – test a surfboard and try out THE WAVE!
For the fourth consecutive year, citywave® have once again built one of the best indoor surf waves in the world, in Düsseldorf! Make sure you register online right here beforehand and enjoy a slice of Hawaiian paradise at the show!
If you prefer to stay dry, there will be plenty of chance to watch the surfing and SUP pros in action as the event hosts the boot Düsseldorf Wave Masters on 18 and 19 January 2020, and boot Düsseldorf SUP Wave Masters on 25 and 26 January 2020.
Additionally, VDWS will be offering a series of surfing seminars at boot Dusseldorf for beginners and experts. You can register for these on the VDWS website. During these seminars, you can ask questions regarding boards or sails you are interested in as well as try out new tricks on our surfing simulator. For over 45 years now, VDWS has been training surfing instructors all over the world using a system that is optimised on an ongoing basis.
Thrilling contests guaranteed on both boot weekends!
While the first contest weekend is reserved entirely for surfers and professional windsurfers, and it will be the turn of the stand-up paddlers on the second weekend when they will be holding their championship in both the sprint and standing wave disciplines.

- boot Düsseldorf is open 18th – 26th January from 10:00 – 18.00
- Roughly 13,000 sqm devoted to surfing for visitors to try out first hand in Hall 8a (Next to the north entrance)
- 1,400 sqm pool with a 2.0 cableway for wakeboarding, tow-in windsurfing and a foiling show as well as SUP tests.
