Madie Evans competed in the Women’s Pros for the first time this year. She turned 13 years old last week and is the youngest female Pro in the UK – Madie tells us how her year went, right here!

Madie’s Story

This competition season I made a move from Junior girls to Women’s pros. This has pushed my riding, and I am proud to have been supported in this decision by my coaches Sukie and Robin at 514 Elemental.

I was very excited at the thought of kiting with some of the best female competitive kite surfers in the UK. The events took place in three different locations in the UK. First stop was Hayling Island, second stop Skegness and the last stop was Ramsgate.

There wasn’t much wind for the first stop at the Kitesurfing Armada, Hayling Island. However, we made the most of the waiting around with lots of swimming, watching the Kite foilers and generally enjoying the Armada event. There was music, and lots was going on, including Yoga and SUP.  Despite the lack of wind, the junior fleet was able to get a result.

The second stop was the Kitesurfing Armada, Skegness,  the sun was shining, and the wind was on our side. A full competition ran, so every fleet received a result.

It was a hard-fought competition for the Women’s Pros; I pulled out all the tricks with my absolute favourite of the day being a fun huge backroll kite-loop in good wind.  I came second exceeding my expectations as I was against the most amazing female kitesurfers.

The last stop on tour took place in Ramsgate, to compete in the finals of the British Kitesurfing Championships. Sadly there was no opportunity to run the competition as it was very light winds, but the weather was beautiful with wall to wall sunshine, we were all happy to be on the beach. The BKSA team and race director put on lots of fun alternatives to keep us busy, including team relay races and wakeboarding.

This is my first year of competing in the BKSA Pro Women’s category, and it is my understanding that I am the youngest ever to compete in the Pro Women’s category let alone to become Vice-Champion.

I have found the whole experience of being in the Pro’s so much fun, and I’m going to be training hard over the winter season ready for next year.

The kites that I use are the amazing F-One Bandits, teamed with the F-One WTF board and Manera Union harness. I am excited about my future in Freestyle Kitesurfing and thank you, Dom, at F-One kites UK for his continued ongoing support.

The overall podium results for the Women’s Pro’s fleet are:

1st: Holly Keenan

2nd: Madison Evans

3rd: Katie Evans
