At A Glance
The Fury is a 5-strut high performance kite from Peter Lynn, aimed at the aggressive freerider looking for huge air, or the racer looking for speed and prowess upwind. There is a simple, mid length leading edge bridle coupled with a direct rear line connection. The kite itself is a high aspect affair with swept back tips and a medium profile. Peter Lynn also offer a “lite” version of this kite in sizes 13m, 15m, 17, and 19m for the course racers out there. The standard version is available in the following sizes: 6, 7, 9, 11 and 13m. Build quality is very good with Dacron reinforced wing tips, foam bumpers on the struts and Kevlar strut tips. There are three tuning options for the rear lines to tweak turning speed and bar pressure.
The Bar
The Navigator SL Control bar has been developed over the years and started out as the control bar for the twin skin kites. When they launched the inflatable kites they simply further developed the bar they had been working on for many years. Safety is a key element of the bar and the SL version offers two options for the safety system, as standard the safety line is attached to the two front lines, but you can also set it so it just attaches to one front line. There are ‘O’Shit’ handles on each of the rear lines, a very well designed clam cleat trim system and the safety leash is very good. The chicken loop release is a pull rather than push system, which you need to be aware of as so many systems now use a push away motion rather than a pull one. This can be tricky if you are unhooked and grabbing the chicken loop to hook back in, sometimes you can activate the system, so be careful.
In The Air
The Fury is a very fast kite in the sky; it whips around the window with real purpose and instantly demonstrates its high-end capabilities. The 5-strut platform makes the canopy very stiff and this in turn combines with the shape to offer very direct and responsive steering. The high aspect nature of the Fury lends itself to upwind duties extremely well. The kite punches forwards in the wind window and generates plenty of lift. Jumping is an aspect of the Fury that really impressed us, when powered up the lift and hangtime offered is incredible and the kite will be sure to put a smile on your face. It’s an easy kite to get used to, and an easy kite to get a lot out of as well, especially if you have a bit of flying experience. It’s a real freeride machine for the masses, and whatever your level you will be sure to enjoy it. Upwind and jumping are where it truly excels.

Make sure you familiarise yourself with the release system on this kite especially if you are used to push away release systems as this one is a one-sided pull system.
Overall
We’ve been really impressed with these inflatables from Peter Lynn and the Fury is equally impressive. If you want a high performance freeride machine for boosting big air and racing upwind, this should be on your shopping list.
