Fresh for this year, the Diva Front-Zip wetsuit is another addition to the Mystic wardrobe. It’s great to see the technology, style and designs improving across women’s neoprene products, and Mystic have always been ones to lead the game for the ladies.
Front-zip wetsuits have had a bit of a reputation in the past for being a menace to get into, rather like getting toothpaste back into the tube, however the super stretchy and flexible M-flex neoprene, combined with the design of the suit meant it wasn’t a Krypton Factor Challenge and went on very easily.
On appearances alone, the Diva stands out from the crowd. Mystic have really gone for some funky colour ways and designs this year, and that carries across to the women’s range too. The cut of the wetsuit is also very flattering (well, as much as a wetsuit can be…), and almost looks like a rather swanky 2-piece outfit.
We’ve established it’s a good-looking bit of kit, but more importantly can it actually perform as required? With a whole host of nifty features, we can say the answer is a resounding yes!
With a polar lining on the front and back panels creating a soft layer against your skin and more insulation to keep your core warm, non-slip cuffs giving a good seal at wrists and ankles, reinforced knees with a 4-way stretch, internal waterproof stretch taping, Velcro ankle straps and Aquaflush panels in the lower leg so you don’t get ballooning, there has clearly been some thought put into this suit.
It’s worth mentioning that the wetsuit has also been made using Polygiene technology that controls odours and uses silver salt to keep your suit fresher for longer. Not only can you now look more feminine whilst kiting, you can also smell more like a lady!
As with all wetsuits, you really need to try a few on to get the best fitting one for your shape and size. At present Mystic don’t have a Tall option in the women’s range, so you may need to go a size up if you need the extra length. Bear in mind this will change the sizing in other areas of the suit too, so the seals (neck, ankle, wrist) may not be as snug as intended.
For a winter wetsuit, the Diva Front-Zip gets a big thumbs up. Plenty of features that help keep you warm and on the water for longer (which is ultimately what we’re after during the winter months!) and we really liked the comfort and flexibility that having a front-zip gives. It’s also one of the best looking female wetsuits on the market at the moment, in our opinion!
