We have two part time positions available for a Web Content Journalist and a Features Editor for the magazine. If you are passionate about breaking the Internet, smashing targets, generating amazing content and generally being the best of the best then you sound like our kind of person. Editorial Team – IKSURFMAG

  1. Web Content Journalist – Part Time

2-3 hours per day working on the website ensuring we get the best quality content online. The hours do not have to be consecutive, but they have to be on a per day basis. This is a self-employed, home-based role, you don’t have to be in the UK but first class English is essential. You will be part of a remote team, but free to work your own hours at a location of your choosing.

Tasks:

  • Posting amazing daily videos with unique descriptions that will go viral and break the Internet.
  • Coming up with new ideas for engaging web features and interesting news posts to maintain and increase traffic to the site.
  • Using our NewsCore program and keeping it up to date.
  • Finding new channels and videos to add to the NewsCore Platform.
  • Posting and reformatting press releases from brands, events and other outlets onto the website.
  • Ensuring the Facebook and Twitter feeds are active and have engaging content.

Skills Required:

  • Self motivated, hard-working, reliable, trustworthy, conscientious and generally awesome.
  • Sound knowledge of the sport, its history and all the players within it.
  • Computer literacy and access to a computer and high speed Internet is essential.
  • Fantastic creative writing skills.
  • Excellent English grammar and spelling ability.
  • Solid understanding of Social Media with a huge passion for it.
  • Experience with WordPress.
  • Experience posting to Facebook Pages.
  • Be able to work alone, but as part of a remote team.
  • Huge passion for all things kite.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.

Skills Useful:

  • Solid kite skills (no need to be Aaron Hadlow, but the ability to kitesurf reasonably well is preferred).
  • Interest in kites and boards testing.
  • Social Media marketing experience.

  1. Features Editor – Part Time

Your role will be to seek out new and engaging content for the world’s biggest and most widely read kitesurfing Magazine. This is a self-employed, home-based role, you don’t have to be in the UK but first class English is essential. You will be part of a remote team, but free to work your own hours at a location of your choosing.

Tasks

  • Coming up with new and interesting ideas for articles.
  • Keeping in regular contact with contributors around the world to source new and exciting stories.
  • Interviewing riders, film producers and photographers.
  • Ensuring the content in IKSURFMAG remains diverse and world class.
  • Proof-reading contributor articles and selecting images to be sent to designers.
  • Liaising with designers and proofing completed articles before publication.
  • Over-seeing future magazine issues through to completion.
  • Liaise with Advertising and Editorial team to arrange test kites, boards and products for review.

Skills Required

  • Self motivated, hard-working, reliable, trustworthy, conscientious, amicable, and generally awesome.
  • Computer literacy and access to a computer and high speed Internet is essential.
  • Fantastic creative writing skills.
  • Excellent English grammar and spelling ability.
  • Solid understanding of Social Media.
  • Understanding of photography, videography and editing.
  • The understanding of International, we are not a UK magazine, and content should reflect that.
  • Ability to communicate with strangers in strange situations, you’re not going to be dumped on Mars, but you might end up on a press camp or two!
  • Must be personable, amicable and willing to get involved.
  • Solid understanding of all aspects of the sport at all levels.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines.
  • Be able to work alone, but as part of a remote team.
  • Have a passion for all things kite.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.

Skills Useful

  • Solid kite skills (no need to be Ruben Lenten, but the ability to kite in most situations, and disciplines, is essential).
  • Interest in kites and boards testing.
  • Passion for travelling, meeting new people and broadening your horizons.
